By Ira Levin
My first EVER theoretical set design. This play had so many twists and turns I just loved it. It’s sort of dark but sort of humorous. I went with a real “Knives out” vibe with the decor. I wanted a set the actors could really act AROUND, you know? Something with depth. It was hard because Ira actually had specific designs IN the script that I had to fight myself not to copy. The goal was to tap into my own creativity and learn.
Colored Rendering of the Set
Black matte board and Prismacolor pencils.
I like making models so directors have something to block with.
The porch door to the garden where they bury the wife.
The stairs to loft. You can also see the neat 3D printed chair and desk
